Another week has gone by.

This week was pretty cool, but first I will let you know that I got my first hot work in the week before. We had gotten back to the warehouse early and there were 2 insulators that were busted so me and 2 other guys went to change them out with electricity still on the line. It was awesome to hear the buzz of the electricity every time you touched the line with something metal like a screw driver when you use it to pry the tie off the line. It was neat to touch 7200 volts of electricity and not feel it through the rubber gloves that we wear. Now, back to this week. We have been finishing up a job that we were doing on monday and teusday we started a new job building a pole with switches. Wednesday I can't remember for sure what we did cause we have been all over the palce. thursady we went back to set the swith pole that we built and in the middle of the job we got called to go and fix a pole that was on fire. So, we had to hurry up and get the pole tamped inot the groun so the guys with buckets could finish the job. Then it was off to akron as fast as we could get a pole and material toconstruct a new pole to replace the pole that was on fire. Good thing we had had some goos rain or there would have been a big fire because the pole top completley burnt off and was just hanging there, So we got a new pole ready to go in it's place while other lineman were killing the line. I was told to pull the old pole and it was still on fire. So we pulled it and put it out on the ground and then set the new pole. Today I changed out a meter loop and a tranformers off my hooks, boy it is difficukt to step around a meter loop on a pole with out falling. but I did it. then we went to kirk a smalll town South east of here near Burlington and had to change out 3 transformers and put up new ones than make it two different services by hanging 2 meter loops and rewiring the new tranformers. My foreman used the bucket truck in the morning and then he let me go up and finish the job in the afternoon. Man it is so much easier to work out of a bucket than standing on your hooks on the pole to do the job. You can get around easier and don't have to worry about falling. To end my day off I took my wife out to eat because it was our 6 year anniversary today it was the perfect end to a great day.
